Hard Science
We investigated the established association between communication and the quality of life
in elderly subjects by giving cellular phones out to senior citizens over the age of 65. Three months after our
distribution, we surveyed 100 of the subjects in the study and asked how the quality of lives has changed. Our
study data was collected free of bias in terms of race, medical conditions, gender, age, and financial state.
We then examined for the possible mechanisms through which it may correlate to their quality of life. Overall,
we have found an overwhelming 88% of the subjects saying that their quality of life has shown a significant
increase. We have found numerous factors that enhance successful aging with increased capability in communication.
Variables of personal security, physical activity, and social activities have shown a positive correlation with
increasing level of communication. Subsequently, with previous establishment, these positive trends contribute
in increasing aerobic capacity, muscular function, cognitive function, and social integration. These factors are
linkages among different factors in increasing longevity and quality of life in elderly subjects.
